Edo APC Raises Alarm Over The Inflow Of Thugs Into The State Ahead Of The Governorship Election

The All Progressive Congress, in Edo State has, raisen alarm over the inflow of thugs, into Benin City, on Wednesday night; and, the further recruitment of thugs, loyal to the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki and, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state; stating that, the latest recruitment, occurred in Warri, Delta State.

This was revealed and reported, in a press statement, issued by, the chairman of the Edo APC Media Campaign Council, Mr. John Mayaki, who said that, the thugs gained entrance into Benin; and that, even more are geared to arrive Benin Thursday evening.

He disclosed that, “One of my good sources in Delta, called me and, was telling me that, our election will be bloody. He told me that, thugs in Delta, are currently being mobilized into the State. He has some of them in his contact and, Obaseki is looking for more thugs. Some of them, have already taken off from Warri yesterday, and more will be leaving there, this morning. These are people that were given clear instruction, on what to do, once they enter Edo. They will lie low and, perpetrate some kidnaps, then unleash on Saturday morning''.

On the direness of the situation, Mayaki predicted that, “the security agencies that have been deployed into the state and, the resilience of our people, will nullify all the thugs that, the governor is bringing in.

The people of Edo, are fed up of Obaseki; and, they rightly believe that, the governor’s second term bid, is not achievable.

In our opinion, we would say, Democratic processes should not be altered, by any person.

Edo people should vote and not fight. Election is just a process, to democratically change government; and therefore, it should not be seen as war or, a do or die affairs.

We therefore, advise all Edo residents, most especially, the youths, to remain law abiding, and maintain peace and order, at the forthcoming Governorship election, in the state.

Election would come and, also pass, but, the effects of any violent act, would remain with us; hence, we would plead with both APC and PDP, Oshiomole, Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu, who are the main actors, at the poll; to also maintain peace and order, as stipulated in the Peace Accord, signed by all parties, in the State.

Edo, must be allowed to decide, who would govern them; without, any external body or persons, interfering with a democratic process.
