The Essence Of Embracing Indigenous Languages: What Is ''2020'' In Your Native Language?

Please note: this article is recommended for all Nigerian parents, teachers, students and wards. And, it would be helpful for everyone, if you drop your thoughts at the comment section.

The essentiality of the use of our indigenous languages, in Nigeria, has been undermined.

It is disheartening, for Parents to see no reason, for their wards, to speak their local dialect; but, they wholeheartedly, hold unto the ''English Language''.

Probably, those people, who do not know that, the English language is another man's local dialect; they feel that the English language is a superior language to theirs.

On the contrary, no language, is superior to another.
The owners of the English language, sees our languages as foreign languages; and, would not use ours, as we use theirs.

It's high time, we taught our children, to use and embrace, our local dialect wholeheartedly; because, Nigerian Languages, are at the verge of extinction.

The reason, being that, it has only few users currently. Probably, just few of our parents, are currently, the few users of these Nigerian Languages. So, let just imagine, our parents, all pass on, in the next 60 years, that means, the languages go with them.

See the reason why, we really need to embrace our local dialect more.

Now, let's get back to our question of the day: what is 2020 in your native language?
Well, I'm from Nembe, Bayelsa State. We have Rivers and Sea; and, Fishing is our culture. And I'm proud of my language.

I speak Nembe and Ijaw. In Nembe, year 2020 is, ''Kurai Si Si''.

Meanwhile, what is ''year 2020'', in your local dialect?
