Bayelsans Protest In Yenagoa & Abuja Against The Unlawful Arrest Of Vijah Opuama

It is no news that, Vijah Opuama, the Governorship candidate of the Liberation Movement Party; and also, the Petitioner, at the Bayelsa State Election Petition Tribunal, has been in Police Custody, for over 2 weeks now.
It is disheartening to see that, one would unlawfully arrest and detain someone, without any formal arraignment in a law court.

Vijah Opuama is a Bayelsan, with equal rights as any other Nigerian. He doesn't deserve this ill-treatment from, Benson Agadaga, who is the Chief of staff, Government House; the Governor, Sen. Douye Diri and the Government of Bayelsa State.

The Unlawful arrest and detention, has prompted this peaceful protest by well-meaning residents of Bayelsa and Abuja.

All they are demanding for, is the immediate release of Vijah Eldred Opuama; who was unlawfully arrested by men of the IGP Monitoring Unit of the Nigerian Police Force, at the premises of the Tribunal, following the order of Benson Agadaga, the Chief of Staff, Bayelsa State Government House.

This arrest was made, even before the Bayelsa State Election Petition Tribunal's judgement was passed, in favour of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP).

The continuous detention of Vijah Opuama, would furtherly damage the reputation of the Governor; hence, we plead for his immediate release, since, there has not been any charges filed against him.

The youths of the state, are not pleased with the actions of the government.
