NDDC Probe: Acting Chairman, Prof. Pondei Collapses During Public Hearing

It's no news, that the Acting Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Prof. Pondei is in a big financial recklessness allegation; that has led to a serious Nationwide outcry for his probe.

Today, during the probe session; and while, responding to allegations of 1.5billion naira financial misappropriation, he suddenly collapsed and could not respond to questions from the chairman of the probe panel.

Prof. Daniel Pondei, who could not continue with his defence, had to leave the panel, for an emergency medical attention.

However, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on the Niger Delta, Rep. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (APC-Ondo), has also stepped down, as the head of the panel investigating, the alleged corruption at the NDDC.

Mr Tunji-ojo who resigned at about 11:37 am, on Monday, at the hearing room 231, House Wing of the National Assembly, after a 4-minute speech; said, he was ready to face the anti-corruption agencies for allegations of corruption.

Furthermore, Rep. Thomas Ereyitomi (PDP-Delta), has replaced Tunji-Ojo, as the Chairman of the Probe Panel.

The people of the Niger Delta and all Nigerians also, all want transparency and accountability from the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
We pray Prof. Pondei, gets well soon, and continue with his defence, at the rescheduled date.
